Sharon Stone's Festive Fur

Hey everyone, time for something a bit different (cue huge groan of disappointment).

I just thought that with Christmas round the corner I'd share with you a little image I did with this year's Christmas card in mind. It's a bit of a tradition that I design the family card each year (slave labour, I tell you) and I found this year's inspiration was an image of Sharon Stone I found in that gloriously trashy publication, heat Magazine.

What was quite funny was that the article she featured in read something along the lines of 'YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF' because she had attended some grand red carpet event (the 'Cinema Against AIDS' benefit event in Rome to be precise) wearing an enormous fox-fur cape and it was all 'how could she ignore this blatant example of animal cruelty?' I took one look at the photograph and thought:

'She looks bloody fantastic.'

Something about fur that's so Wintery, don't you agree? Yes it's bad though, so bad...

xx

P.s. The picture on the right isn't the one I drew from, but you get the idea, no?
And don't worry all you Kenji-a-holics, Christmassy treats still to come :D

My First Ever Commission (woop!)

Heya peeps, how's it goin'? So I could talk about how long its been since last I posted yada yada yada but that's boring, so let's just get straight to it.

A few months ago I was asked to produce a new logo design for a university's LGBT group, and well, I'll be honest, I wasn't entirely sure whether it was something I'd be interested in. I've kinda always thought doing commissions would mean having to do drawings of things you don't really want to do - I guess that does happen sometimes.

Luckily for me my client wanted me to come up with a new character to act almost as a mascot for the group, and being the sort of person who loves coming up with new characters this is what interested me enough to wanna take part. Though my client decided on a few 'ingredients' to the overall appearance, I was adamant that I didn't want to follow too many stereotypes of gay men, and yet at the same time I knew it was important to reflect what the group was all about.
So I came up with Russ!! Though I know there could be a few improvements I'm overally pretty happy with the way he turned out, and can see a lot of potential for the guy. Let me know what y'all think though, good or bad :D

Oh, and if anyone else fancies me doing a commission for them then please feel free to message me on my MySpace page, or send me an e-mail at white_wabbit@hotmail.com with 'Commission' as the subject. I'm not saying I'll be happy to do anything because I know I won't haha, but I can guarantee I'll consider any suggestions and reply to all!! Don't be afraid to ask, that's all I'm saying.

xx

P.s. I truly am sorry about how crap I am at posting, I will say that I have very little motivation these days for various reasons I won't go into. I'm hoping it's gonna pick up a bit though :)

I Haven't Given Up!!

Ok, so I know I haven't posted in ages and ages (maybe no one's noticed), but I've just had so many other things to do that I haven't had time to finish some of the drawings I've been working on - and I figured that the next post I'd... post... would be something fantastic and new and exciting... so I've been leaving it. I've got quite a few drawings in the works but I just haven't got round to getting them to a presentable state. So please please please if you ARE interested in my work don't forget about my blog!!! I WILL have something good up eventually, I really will!!

Ok let's see what I can trawl up from the ol' collection of crappy crap that will do for now - can't be having no text-only post now, can I!!

Ok here's one:
Ugh, black-and white, how dull. This was a drawing I'd planned to colour in but lost faith in it - was gonna be a gift for my good friend Mister Patrick Fillion of his two characters Camili-Cat and Lanor. I don't really like Cam in this picture, which is the main reason why I gave up on it. Hmm... I wonder if anyone has the time they'd like to rescue it by adding some extra amazing colour to it? Then again - doubt that'll be enough. :(

Well hope that feeds a few appetites for now. Also, if you haven't already, I have to recommend buying Patrick Fillion's new art book 'Bliss', it's by far the finest collection of PF's work I have ever seen, every image is of the highest quality including gorgeous pictures of my favourite character Flamer.... mmm... ^_^
Anyway as I said before, some GOOD stuff is on the way... it's just taking its sweet time getting here hehe.

xx

(P.s. Patrick, why hasn't Lanor got a character bio?!! Or Flamer!!!)

New Beginnings For The Wabbit

Hey everyone, tomorrow I make the step of leaving home for the first time and heading up north to go to Uni in Manchester. To be honest, I'm shitting myself as I can see myself skint, hungry, alone, addicted to crack, homeless in no time. (I'd add 'becoming a rent-boy' to that list if I thought there was a chance anyone would have me). I'm such a spendthrift if I have the money there in my grasp, the responsibility is going to push me over the edge, no doubt! I don't wanna grow up!!! >_<

I'm also quite certain that everything that can possibly go wrong during the move will go wrong so I'm presuming I might not get internet in my room for a while, so I thought I'd just pre-empt the delay in posting anything (*laugh* because usually I post so regularly) and leave you with this sketch I found whilst clearing out my room at home. I'd forgotten I did it to be honest, and althou
gh it's pretty clear that not everything is in proportion or anatomically correct it's still kinda sweet. As usual, it's Kenji, but here with his blond-buddy Benedict. I might re-work this picture at a later time, ya never know. And this blog really is becoming the home of Kenji, but no one's complained so far!

Hope you guys like the pic, and everyone gets a big kiss 'til next time.
(I'm sure it won't be that long, really)

Kenji In His Undies ...Again

Hey so I've been planning to post my SpaceKid Kenji story for ages, but its not coming along as planned so I'll have to sort it out another time lol. I'm such a NOOB! ^^ (too much Warcraft)

Anyway so I thought to feed your Kenji appetite and to feed my need to post SOMETHING I'd share this painting I did of Kenji years ago, I think I was about 17-18 studying my A-Levels at the time,
including Art, except instead of actually doing any proper work I spent my time doing things like this - which I probably could've somehow integrated into the course but I really wasn't bothered. I dropped out eventually.

But I was quite pleased with this watercolour I did and how I made Kenji quite life-like. It's a shame I didn't actually have him in front of me.

Anyways let me know what you think, and also I'd really be interested in hearing what sort of thing people want to see from me in the future. I haven't quite found the right moment to post any nude/rude artwork!!! I feel so - vanilla. lol.

xx

P.s. Whilst I was looking through my old artwork looking for something suitable to post, my rabbit Chad chewed a few originals!!! O_o

GalactiCats Getting Emotional

As part of my course at college we did sessions in Digital Artwork (which were so basic, I've taught myself most of what I know) and for one of my projects I created a short storybook called 'SpaceKid Kenji' of which you've seen one of my illustrations for it already. (1st Post guys, think back!). I think I'll recreate a digital version of that book for my blog sometime, it was really cool and I still have all the illustrations as jpgs haha.

Anyways, as part of my concept, Kenji would travel through space with his pet GalactiCat, Cosmo. Basically GalactiCats are the coolest pet because they come in a range of bright colours and they talk and get drunk. Oh and they have really awesome tails haha. And I liked drawing them a lot, they've a simple but fun design.

So I was looking at my MySpace page the other day thinking how bored I was of having Pokémon as my background (*ahem* yes, Pokémon) that I thought 'hmm, what can I do that will be equally as cool' (*ahem* yes, cool, Pokémon are cool). Anyways so I remembered my GalactiCats and I thought yeahhhhh!! So I came up with these simple lil' illustrations of all types of GalactiCat expressions. Maybe they're not so far from Pokémon after all...

You can see how they look on my page here. Which one would YOU have as your sidekick/pet? :P You can see another illustration of Cosmo in my MySpace pics if you're desperate for more GalactiCat action!

And by the way - when will they release the TV series of Pokémon on DVD in this country GODDAMNIT!!!! (That's what the orange one is thinking, blatantly).

Bunny Boy

Although I had planned to post some new work for this next post, it's taking longer than I would have liked (not helped by the fact that the evils of Warcraft III addiction have set in once more) and I'm getting fed up of not posting!! And I wouldn't want anyone to think I've lost interest haha.

So a pattern is emerging now as I'm posting yet more Kenji artwork - this one is for ephnat who gave me my first ever comment! (I think also it was recently his birthday, so - Happy Birthday!) ^_^ And who also had poor eyesight it seems hahaha - that or the Wabbitness of WabbiWorld caused him to hallucinate. Either way, he mentioned Kenji as a bunny boy, I said I'd drawn him as such and so here he is:

Enjoy!!

Queen Of HipPop! ^_^

Album image © 2005 Avex Entertainment inc.

Ok now I don't plan on posting many of these kind of entries, but I'm just sooooo thrilled that my
Namie Amuro CD has finally come through the post!!

For those that don't know, Namie Amuro is a musical artist in Japan who, in my opinion, stands way above the other female J-Pop solo artists (though some would probably argue Ayumi Hamasaki is more popular). I was in Japan in the Summer of 2005 and it was the best experience of my life so far; Japan felt so much like 'home' to me.

Whilst I was there, and exploring Tokyo's Shibuya district, there was music being played into the streets and banners were promoting some artist (though of course I was too thick to realise the two were connected), and there was one song where wherever I went I'd immediately recognise it and by the time I'd figured out the artist and the songname I'd run out of money and couldn't get it!! Gutted.

Well a few weeks ago, for some random reason I suddenly remembered about THAT song with the cute video and the pink panther and all these other random elements and I had this urge to find out what it was (by now I'd forgotten the names of things) so after an immense investigation online I finally reminded myself and got the album on eBay for a bargain price! (Took long enough to come though). And guess what, I love it even more than ever! Comes with Pink Panther stickers - and a poster! Namie got the rights to use the Pink Panther as part of the album promotion, and had a female character made in her likeness - so cool!!! Mmm... and it SMELLS so GLOSSY! *solvent abuse*. My recommendation goes out to everyone, if you can find yourself a copy GET IT! My focus now is gettin' my hands on her latest album, 'Play'.

So for everyone else to enjoy, here is THAT song, 'WoWa', courtesy of YouTube.

SUPER KAWAII!!! ^_^

Ok spazz is over, the next post will be less... like this!

Kenji Loves To Share

Since my previous post about my fashion project based on men's underwear I thought you might like to see Kenji showing off his own (and a little extra, it seems). Told you he was cheeky!

I spent a bit of time colouring it on Photoshop but I think I messed up somewhere so I thought I should post the original black n' white version too! I kept the background nice, simple n' clean just like Kenj's pants ^_^

Mmph! I love him!

All comments are very much welcome... espec. advice on how to use Photoshop!

Quick update: Jus' thought everyone might enjoy this nice little crop as well! ^_^

The Real Reason I Do Fashion

This time I thought I should take the opportunity to show you to some of the work I have done studying fashion design. I'll be going off to university in September to do a degree in fashion design having just finished an intense two-year ND course to start me off along this career path, and I can't WAIT! (most of all, just to move away from home haha)

I got a choice of four directions to take my final project on the ND. The biggest problem with my course was how geared it was to designing womenswear; don't get me wrong, designing dresses is great fun and all that but I do love designing for men, if only for the fact I get to draw dozens and dozens of 'em all wearing cute/sexy outfits haha!! So when I saw the title 'Underwear with Knitted Accessories', I thought I'd 'rebel against the system' by twisting the project round to menswear.

Now I'm sure the obvious direction would be to have done a whole load of guys wearing boxers and scarves, but I wanted to think outside the box, especially for my final project, and do something a bit different. I looked at a whole range of under-garments throughout the last century, garments including long johns, bodystockings, union suits and thermals, as well as sportswear, nightwear and even baby clothes. From this I was inspired to produce a range of quite simple clothing men could lounge about in at home; PJs, T-shirts, dressing gowns, as well as, of course, just plain old underpants - not the sort of fashion you'd necessarily flaunt on a night out (well, I'm sure there's someone out there who would). The primary ideas were comfort and warmth. Colour also became important and I chose to be outrageous and use orange. Who'd've thought it would go from being my most hated colour to my favourite! Blue, white, grey and red were also included in the colour range which ended up kinda giving everything a 'mod' twist.

In the end, the design I chose to make up into an actual garment was that of a cross between a hooded sweater, a jumpsuit and a babygro. I made it out of sweatshirting which I dyed bright orange and put a chunky white zip all the way down the middle - something kinda sexy about a full-length zip! With the inclusion of a dropseat (or what I'd call a 'bum-flap') the whole thing seemed to have shifted from a playful adult version of a child's garment to some fetishistic pervy sex-outfit - something that everything I design seems to end up looking like. Well, at least I have a specialty! I bought some chunky wool and completed the outfit with knitted bootees and weird fingerless armwarmer-mitten-type things.

Obviously my favourite part of the project was doing the fashion illustrations!!! To me, it's just an excuse to come up with some eye-candy, especially when I'm designing menswear. On the course we were always encouraged to push our creativity when it came to illustrations. The method I chose to use was something combining collage, a bit of watercolour, and outlining in red graphic marker. And you know what, I'm damn pleased with 'em!! They took me forever to do. The end result probably could've been done a lot quicker digitally but then there's something kinda nice about the fact they look quite smart and clean despite doing it the 'old-fashioned' way. The time spent was no great hardship considering the content; I can't tell you how turned-on I was doing some of 'em!! *so adolescent* I wanted the guys to look very masculine to kinda contradict the 'kiddie' feel of the clothing and I thought I could be a bit cheeky with some of the poses, after all I think my lecturers were starting to see the whole thing as some dirty joke anyway! I like to think that the message I left for them upon leaving was one kinda like:
Haha!! I can't tell you how proud I am of that ass! I actually did more than these four, but these are my favourites and I want to leave you begging for more haha. (yeah right :P) Hope you enjoy them, anyhow!

First Voyage Into WabbiWorld

Well here it is!
The Wabbit's first ever post on his first ever blog.

Not sure how well this is going to turn out, but I'm thinking what the hey, I may as well give it a go. Hopefully I can get a few people interested in what I do, whether it be the cute boys I draw or the clothes I design - who knows? I certainly don't!

I just want to thank Patrick Fillion with his regularly updated and brilliant Boytoons Magazine blog for showing me how successful a blog can be, and for introducing me to the idea in the first place! It was seeing Humbug's laidback but fun approach to his ace blog The Humplex that gave me the kick up the ass I needed to start my own. So let's hope I can enjoy keeping a blog as much as I do reading other peoples!

For my first post I thought it fitting to introduce you to my favourite character to draw, Kenji Baxtor, here seen wearing his SpaceKid Disco outfit. I can't think of a single other fella who I've drawn as much as Kenji, he's probably my longest running 'invention' though he's definately more like my best mate now; what can I say - I love him! He's always very cheeky, always very cute, and every now and then he can be a right dirty little bitch. I hope you grow to love him too, I'm sure he'll make numerous appearances (should this blog last long enough!). Oh, and just so there's no dispute, Kenji Baxtor is ABOVE 18 YEARS OF AGE!!! Haha!!
